I screen all comments for comment spam. I wish the spammers would learn that. However, they do occasionally provide some amusement in the efforts they will go to. Here’s a real gem:
certainly like your website however you have to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find it very bothersome to inform the truth however I’ll surely come back again.
Whereas your their comment is so full of capitalization and grammar problems that they’re either the world’s biggest hypocrite or a comment spammer from overseas. I know my spelling is not perfect, but I do happen to know my error-level is relatively low compared with most blogs out there.
It’s amazing the work these people will go to for absolutely no return. None of these comments ever get approved. They work so hard to come up with boilerplate that can be dropped in on any blog and sound moderately sincere, and yet it’s still so easy to see through it based just on the terrible grammar alone. Surely it would be more effective to actually–oh I don’t know–say something that actually pertains to the topic?
Except that probably can’t be done cheaply and quickly by some person with marginal English skills in Thailand or someplace similar. But for not that much more cost they could actually monitor their attempts and see which ones actually get approved. They’d soon learn to avoid my site, and I’d be happier.
