My new mp3 player arrived over the weekend, so I went online and signed up for a 30-day free trial of Audible.com via the Writing Excuses podcast. After some initial difficulties (quickly solved by their customer service people; kudos) I was up and running.
My first book: “The Wheel of Time – The Eye of the World”, by Robert Jordan. Yes, it’s time to see what the big deal is. First runner up was Patrick Rothfuss’ “The Name of the Wind”. I think the main reason I chose Jordan, besides some curiosity, is that it’s a long book. It runs about 28 hours, so it should last me my entire 30 days.
Twenty-eight hours. That’s a lot of driving. Odd to think that I spend that much time on the road in a month. That’s more than a day out of every month. Eddie Rabbitt said it best; “Ooh, I’m driving my life away.” But at least now I’ll be able to enjoy a book while I do it.
I should probably note that the problem I experienced in signing up was self-inflicted. Their system worked fine. I’m a doofus.
We already knew that last part, Thom.
Yes, but now you know that I am not in denial over this fact.
