I believe I’ve said before that Lindsey Stirling has a lot of potential, but for now her music just doesn’t do it for me…yet? Well, she’s getting closer. Granted, this new video of hers is a collaboration in a lot of ways, but it’s quite possibly the best work I’ve seen produced under her brand. It would be interesting to know how much of this was her creative vision. Hard to say from just watching, but it fits her brand very well. (Yes, one of the curses of having an MBA is that you see the world in terms of branding.)
Anyway, it’s cute, it’s catchy, and I like it. Your mileage may vary, but here it is:
Oh, and always eat your vegetables–though I’ve yet to have one affect me like that.
Her second album does branch out more. Some of it really hits, others not so much. Her willingness to collaborate and explore with her videos has really become one of her strengths, I suspect it’s because she’s figured out that there’s only so much variation she can put into her dance moves and still play the violin. Personally, I think the Japanese influences in this video and Senbonzakura really work for her.
Embracing her geek works for her, certainly. And her costumer deserves an award. I rather like her western/steampunk outfit in Roundtable Rival, as well as her pirate outfit for Master of Tides, among others. But she certainly seems to have found her audience, considering the views she gets. For someone not backed by a major label, she’s crushing it.
Lindsey is definitely talented. I have to admit this one is over my head, probably because I don’t particularly have an appreciation for anime. My favorite is the one she did with The Piano Guys. I do like the Japanese influence in the music.
It was the Piano Guys that largely convinced me to give her a listen in the first place. Not everything she does interests me, but she certainly brings her own style to everything.
Very true — and I think that’s the real source of her popularity. I also enjoyed the Studio C sketch (Lindsey wasn’t in it but it was funny! ).
The debut of Lindsey’s “sister” on the sousaphone? I laughed myself a gut-ache over that one. If I remember correctly they invited Lindsey to participate in that one, and she would have if she hadn’t been busy then. She recently did one with Josh Groban and the Muppets, too, which was fairly funny.
Your story is correct. That was a funny one from Studio C.
You mean the Mission Impossible crossover? Yeah, that one was fun.
It’s that one. I was still trying to remember what the song was when I wrote the post. Chemo brain. 🙂
Cece, you had a Tired Mother brain long before you had Chemo Brain. 😉
Yup. But now I have an excuse that no one refutes. It’s so convenient. 🙂
Every brain cloud has a silver lining? 😉
Exactly. You might even get steamer trunks and lots of orange soda.
And if you’re really lucky, Meg Ryan. 🙂
I’ll take the trunks and soda, but Meg Ryan’s not really my kind of gal. Is Kate Hepburn available?
She might be able to come back to haunt you….
Sure, sure, bring reality into what was a perfectly good daydream…
I can think of worse ghosts to have hanging around. Just think of all the witty and sharp commentary she would provide.
Hey you can still daydream whether she’s around or not. That’s the beauty of having an imagination.
Me too. I keep watching it. I’ll have to look for the one you mentioned.

That’s really cute. Are the Muppets back on somewhere or was that just a special or something?
I believe they’re trying a new series soon. It kinda sounded like “The Office” with Muppets
So now that she has your number, has she called?
That was my first reaction to the title. 🙂
Rumor has it she burned it as soon as she realized what it was.
