My encounter with ABBA last week (curse you, YouTube suggested videos!) got me down a music rabbit hole as more and more videos linked up from my past. So now I’ll punish y’all with it, too. (Or you can just tune back in tomorrow – I highly recommend this, Bill!)
Disclaimer: I don’t claim to like all these songs, but still had to relive them one more time. Not everything has aged well.

I don’t think I ever saw the video for this next one. I had no idea there was even any controversy over this.
This last one could probably be tagged as my teenage crush anthem. Ah, memories! I wouldn’t go back and relive those years for any money, but the music will always hold a fond spot in my heart.
Take me back the 80s rocked Thom Stratton, also that’s when we met and started our friendship mate.
It’s more my teenage years I’d rather not relive than the 80’s specifically–especially the junior high school portion of them. High school was pretty good. My time in Australia coincided with my transition from teenager to adult, which was challenging in its own right, but also introduced me to you and others who helped persuade me that being myself could actually be a good thing. 😉
I only listened to ballet music in the 80s, but heard all sorts of music through the wall – thanks to my sister. I still like “Africa”.
That’s what siblings are for, to expose us to other music styles we might otherwise overlook. Dan influenced me heavily at first, but our tastes have diverged somewhat through the years.
Yeah, and you’ve heavily influenced mine. Thank you for saving me from liking 90’s garbage…
Pop music and I parted ways during the 90’s. We still visit now and then, find a little common ground here and there, but it’s not like it used to be.
These are great, Thom. I for one wouldn’t mind rocking out at a 18th-century ball with bikers. But Taco looks like he’s auditioning to be the next Joker.
I actually have his album around here somewhere. I think he was trying for a 1920’s Retro/Golden Age of Hollywood vibe that never quite made it. I don’t know if he ever made another album, but his act wore thin pretty quickly, as I recall.
You sent me down that road, too. I ended up at Paul Simon’s You Can Call Me Al. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULjCSK0oOlI&feature=player_embedded
Yes, that is Chevy Chase on lead vocals….
Laziest music video ever, I love it.
That’s a fun song! I have no idea to this day what the lyrics are, but it’s always been fun.
